"I was told a year ago by numerous vets that Palletto was "done", he should be retired and would never jump again - and no one could even give an accurate diagnosis as to what was wrong. Palletto is a true competitor, he did not look "done"... in fact, he would get very jealous when I rode other horses and started to get depressed. I took him to a vet that believed in more homeopathic methods - he told me to strip away all the supplements, fancy shoe job and stop the injections to see what I really had. He advised adding in monthly sports massages as well. After 4 weeks, Palletto was 90% sound, and at 8 weeks 100%. He was jumping full courses again in September and showing in October, better than ever! We never really knew what was wrong with him, but I think it was a very simple issue with muscle strain and body imbalance with too much "stuff" in his system.
